Description:
This position reports to the Database Manager and is responsible for on-going data management developments within the Customer Value Strategies department. Working within a highly motivated team, this extensive role will see the successful candidate(s) developing and enhancing data driven solutions that have a material impact on our ability to manage our portfolios.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Redevelop the database load process, ensuring the developed process is robust, efficient and relatively uncomplicated.
• Develop a process for testing and implementing all SAS software patches.
• Investigate and where applicable suggest and implement possible improvements to the database structure to ensure the full benefits of SAS and SPDS are being realised.
• Provide technical support to the Risk Server user community, providing SAS efficiency tips and help automating reports.
• Where necessary help with the day to day maintenance of the Risk Server SAS database.
• Assist with the development of the database load process to deal with new or amended data feeds.
• Determine potential impact of changes to Risk Server database from multiple Business sources and represent Risk Server in the change process.
• Manage the creation of technical design and program specification documents.
• All other project work and functional responsibilities as directed by the Database Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
• Proficiency in SAS, SAS macros and SPDS.
• Good understanding of UNIX.
• Knowledge of SQL
• Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
• Proficiency in Excel including Macros
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Self motivated, flexible with the ability to meet deadlines and produce accurate work efficiently
• Good Organisational skills
• Awareness of Systems Development Methodology
• Exposure of systems testing
• Exposure to Database administration
Optional:
• Degree in a numerate or IT discipline.
• Awareness of all related regulations : Data Protection Act etc
