Senior Category Manager: Job Details

We are currently working with a high profile organisation to recruit an experienced senior manager from a procurement background who will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategy for the organisations indirect and services spend. This organisation is entering a period of considerable expansion and as such offers some great opportunities for advancement.
You will:
?      Review current contracts and take full ownership for souring categories.
?      Develop and implement a recognised commodity management strategy that delivers cost savings and improved service and quality.
?      Manage, maintain and develop supply agreements and tenders.
?      Identification of key suppliers and manage to deliver value to the organisation.
?      Through the commodity management process, identify organisational wide continuous improvement opportunities.
?      Provide demonstrable leadership of area managed and be a role model to staff

?         High-level commercial awareness, with a sound knowledge of procurement methodologies (including e-commerce solutions) and supplier management techniques.
?         Proven experience of developing and implementing complex procurement policies and processes, including commodity strategies, and with an ability to see their long-term implications.
?         Proven track record of savings identification across a range of spend categories, awarding and managing complex contracts and delivering improved services and savings.
?         Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
?         Relevant professional or specialist qualification
?         Strong character, able to change an organisation?s approach to procurement disciplines, and willing to take unpopular decisions in order to move forward
?      An encouraging manager who aims to develop other members of their team and takes responsibility for a procurement team?s performance.Salary c.?55,000 plus excellent benefits package.
